Well I've now met Tom, who I already knew was a grand chap. Excited about seeing some horror with him at the end of the month at Grim Up North.
Surely we aren't the only Northerners on geekplanet though? Speak up lads and we can organise a meetup some time in the future.
BTW I will be down south eventually, but no plans in the future as yet largely due to lack of funds and job searching still going on. But once I'm settled into some work I plan to head to London for some weekend tourism, visit my friend Holly in Forest Hill and potentially meet up with some of your lovely selves.
As I've tweeted I haven't met alot of geeks after my own heart in Manchester yet. I'm sure they are around I just have to look under some 'parent's basement' shaped stones, or alternatively drop into
and throw a stone.
I do know a fair few geeks in the Manchester area, but not many of them post here (although some of them lurk - Hello! *waves*). Check out the huge Forbidden Planet and the less huge Travelling Man comic shops. Also there's a FAB Cafe in Manchester - one of a small chain of geek-themed bars (there are two more in Leeds and Liverpool) - which have very cool vibes and décor and also have events like movie and quiz nights and occasional signings.
I miss the North
A lot of our mates from the SFX magazine forum have semi-regular weekend meets in Sheffield (usually March/April and June/July). Dave and I usually go, as well as Martin, Nemain, Ric and a few other GeekPlaneteers. I know it's not til next year now, but if you fancied coming to one you'd be made very welcome, and we'd look after you.
