TOPIC: Podcasting from the Cloud

Podcasting from the Cloud 5 years 11 months ago #9924

Hello podcasters!

For a while, I've been working with our resident technomage, Nik Butler, to the end of increasing service efficiency whilst decreasing overhead costs. To that end, we are shortly going to start serving podcast feeds from an file cloud. There will be no drop in download speed or changes to how you upload/post, but your podcasts will stop coming from www.geekplanetonline.com and start coming from hosting.geekplanetonline.com .

I know, I know, a lot of blather. Well, the short version is that we'll be slowly upgrading your podcast feeds, one by one, over the next few weeks. Anyone BEGINNING hosting with us will have a cloud feed from the start, and we've already converted The Babble On Project to prepare for the (hopeful!) influx of traffic once the JMS interview goes live. The conversion schedule for the rest of you will start with the more traffic-heavy podcasts and move their way down the line.

In theory, this process should be invisible to you all. If there are any problems, however, we'll let you know.

In other words, The InsideOutcast will be last in line. ;)

Sounds good. You never know when an influx of new fans might subscribe. Best to prepare for the scenario early and be able to handle the traffic should it come.

I'd wager since we haven't released a podcast since April, The Gentlemen's Grindhouse will be the least downloaded at the moment!

Horror heals. Sentiment sickens.
