TOPIC: Podcast Hashtags

Podcast Hashtags 5 years 9 months ago #9984

Hi folks,

I'm currently working on an overhall of GeekPlanetOnline's front end. One of the interesting things I'll be doing is setting up a display for each podcast page which displays the latest Twitter traffic regarding that podcast.

The module I'll be using can either do this by displaying posts from a particular individual, or containing a particular hashtag. Now since the former option opens up way too many opportunities to accidentally embarass oneself, I have decided to go with the hashtag approach. To this end, I need all of you to let me know which tag you would like to be *your* tag.

Why ask this in the forums? Well, it will be useful to have all of the specs in the same place - and, also, I'd like the posts to remain here so that forum users have something to check before tweeting if needs be.

Thanks for your help, ladies and gentlemen. Anyone I don't hear back from I'll assign a hashtag myself - it can always be changed later.

I'd say maybe #TGG for The Gentlemen's Grindhouse, or if you want something a bit more meaningful #Grindhouse

I've used #GeekPlanet in the past, but I figure that's pretty open to all the GPO podcasts.

Most people have abbreviated our podcast to #IOC bot that is also the hashtag for the International Olympic Committee.

How about #GeekGoth ? No one else is using that.

For the record, I think I'm going to go with a plain #geekplanetonline for our main tag. I know that a lot of you have used #geekplanet, but I'd like to propegate the brand name despite the additional characters used. The website is GeekPlanetOnline.com, not GeekPlanet.com. I hope that makes sense. Also, it can be used in a sentence: "New article up on #geekplanetonline! Dave talks about Ninjas in Victorian love stories!" or whatever.

#GPO, of course, is also used by the General Post Office and is a computing acronym, so that's out.

The Eclectic Podcast will be #eclecticpodcast, and Billy and I have decided on #onemorego for, er, One More Go. I have yet to discuss The Babble On Project with Gillian, so I'll post here later.

Well, in that case I suppose we could be the #insideoutcast as I often include the name of our show in tweeting links to the podcast and related news.

From now on I will tweet #GeekPlanetOnline when referring to the website.

And I want to hear about these ninjas in Victorian love stories. Future Insideout topic perhaps. :cheer:

I couldn't get through Wuthering Heights of the All Seeing Mind. Heathcliff was way too much of a drama queen to make a convincing ninja. Catherine, on the other hand, was really good at sneaking into people's dreams through the windows in their minds. Still, not enough to keep me interested. I heard it ends badly, too.
