TOPIC: Pay Your Respects to Simba the Cat

Re: Pay Your Respects to Simba the Cat 6 years 8 months ago #7453

My deepest sympathies to you both. Although I'm still getting used to being a cat owner I remember being at the vet when my Dad had to have his cat put too sleep as he had become so ill. For years my father and I had been estranged and when he came back into my life when I was about 16 he had Ralph as a kitten. As I grew up an I visited my father on a more regular basis seeing him was also seeing Ralph. When I came to visit that night 3 years ago Ralph was so very ill and I wanted to be there when he died. He had been there for as long as my father and I re-established our relationship and losing him felt like something more fundamental than a cat had gone in a way that I can't explain.

Simba will always be remembered fondly from his appearances on the podcast and the obvious love you both had for him.

While I did pay my respects on Twitter upon hearing the news I would like to officially pay my respects here too..

Simba, like any pet is as much a member of the family as any other. But this cat's indelible mark on the inside outcast, made him part of a bigger family too.

I recall doing the Legion of Tangent Xmas X-over and hearing the little fella pipe up in the background (nicking my punchlines in fluent cat no doubt) and I also recall some of his more obvious attention seeking moments on the inside outcast itself.

It was clear he was, even by cat standards, a bit of a character and much loved by you both. And for a cat, life is simple all it needs is food and lots of loving attention. From the sound of it Simba got and loved both.

While I never had the chance to meet Simba, I can certainly appreciate the loss of a much loved pet, after the loss of my Boxer dog Sasha, many years ago, an event that even today makes me feel sad and can evoke tears should the alcoholic content reach suitable levels.

I can't really add much more to what has already been said about your loss, beyond the fact that I appreciate fully the pain you guys are going through and send good vibes and sympathy your way.

To Simba, may a field of easily clawable carpet light his way.

Oh guys, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I can only echo what the others have said: your love for him was obvious and it's clear that he had the best life a kitty could wish for.

Anyone who has ever lived with a cat knows how they not only own you, they also own your heart.

My thoughts and love are with you both. That you would immediately welcome another little fuzzball into your lives while grieving for Simba shows what caring, loving and wonderful people you are. Simba was a very lucky kitteh, and so is Shinobi. Brandi, reading your stories about your pre-Dave life with Simba brought tears of recognition.

I'm very sorry for your loss, and as ever, full of admiration for you both.

Much love xxx

I don't know you guys (yet) but I know what it's like to be a pet owner and lose your pet. I'm really sorry for your loss.

Thank you so much. Brandi and I get around on this very Planet of Geek. You'll get to know us eventually even if by second hand - particularly if you listen to either The Black Dog or The Gentlemen's Grindhouse podcasts.
