GeekPlanetOnline is pleased to announce that we have now enabled comments across the entirety of our main portal. If you would like to leave a comment on any of our articles you can now do so by logging in via Disqus, Facebook, Twitter or Google.
Why can’t I sign in with my GeekPlanetOnline forum account?
It’s very important to us that our community is a safe space for all members. This does not mean, as some people might think, that we will curtail debate, disagreement or opinion, but it does mean that we take a dim view of abuse, harassment and trolling. It is sometimes difficult to identify genuinely problematic users in isolation, however, which is why we’ve made a decision to use the Disqus comments system.
Disqus presents a universal comments system which tracks users across every website where the software is in place; this means that problem users who have been identified elsewhere will not be able to log in and comment on GeekPlanetOnline, and likewise it means that any abusers that we identify will be prevented from commenting on other sites. This allows us to spend our time on genuine moderation issues rather than constantly filtering spam and troll posts.
Unfortunately, in order to work Disqus must restrict sign into one of the four methods outlined above, but we feel that this is a reasonable trade-off for the benefits that it provides.
We hope that you will enjoy our comments system, and that discussion and debate will follow!
